RELATED CONTENT PACs still thrive in new era of spending Some PACs connected to the housing sector have been hard hit by the recession, but not so the National Multi Housing Council. The trade group more than doubled its PAC receipts since the 2008 economic bust, to $1.8 million in the two-year 2012 election cycle. The reason: a top-priority, member-driven effort to make sure the apartment industry is not left out of discussions about housing-related issues, including tax reform and the future roles of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
